 | 1/12/2012: This product is no longer for sale and has been discontinued. We don't want you to confuse this DVDXPlatinum (by X Software) with the once highly popular DVD X Copy Platinum from 321 Studios. They went out of business and no longer offer support or product updates, and users can not unlock their DVD X Copy software.
This review of DVDXPlatinum has been updated on 4/27/06. We used to call DVDXPlatinum "today's version of DVD X Copy Platinum." However, since the release of 1Click DVD Copy Pro with CPRx enhanced copy protection removal technology, we have to rank the 1Click products as our #1 choice for copying all the latest DVD movies. If you're looking for products with similar features to the old "DVD X Copy Platinum", read our review of 1Click DVD Copy PRO which has similar features.
What we still like about DVDXPlatinum is that it does have a good feature set, and if you only want to copy older DVDs, or want to use it in conjunction with Video Vault to copy video tapes (footage you've taken with a video camera), DVDXPlatinum is still a good choice.
However, because of the way new DVDs are being authored these days with enhanced copy protection, the only real choice for DVD to DVD copying is 1Click or 1Click Pro. Click here to read about CPRx enhanced copy protection removal technology.
DVDXPlatinum is similar to, and has all of the power and features of the once incredibly popular DVD X COPY Platinum by 321 Studios, but since it doesn't have the enhanced CPRx technology, it can't really copy newer DVDs (anything released in the last year). This is why, at this time, we strongly recommend 1Click DVD Copy products for any DVD movie copying needs (including recent and future DVD movie releases).
With this combo offer, you receive Video Vault for Free! Video Vault lets you store several DVD Movies and your home video collection on your hard-drive (depending on free space). Then - with a click of a button - view them, or create a new DVD that is a compilation of many DVDs. You can use Video Vault to import your VCR tapes and burn them to DVD, or burn DIVX or downloaded video files to DVD.
Editorial Note:If your main goal is to copy DVD to DVD (including the latest DVD movie releases) and need little else, 1Click DVD Copy is perfect for you.
Click the 'Buy Now' button on the left to get this combo for $99.00 as a download only. If you want backup CDs for both DVDXPlatinum and Video Vault, Click Here To Buy for $119.00.

DVDXPlatinum is a very robust product. With DVDXPlatinum's Simple mode, you get one-click automated backups with very impressive burning speeds (this is similar to 1Click DVD Copy functionality). Power-users will like DVDXPlatinum's Advanced mode where you can easily create highly customized backups by compressing or deleting content of your choice. Video Vault allows you to import and store your video camera tapes (or vcr tapes). You can also store DVD movies in Video Vault and make a 'Super Compressed' library for viewing on your computer.

Usability:
DVDXPlatinum has all the features 1Click DVD Copy has, plus additional ability to look more closely at the DVD conent so you can trim or remove any content you don't want copied (to reduce the amount of compression). You can also split the DVD onto two blank DVDs for optimum video quality. Video vault is very user friendly and easy to use. If your budget is a concern, get 1Click DVD Copy for it’s straightforward simplicity, excellent quality, and great value. If you want all that plus even more bells and whistles, and don’t mind investing a little more, get DVDXPlatinum .
Installation & Setup:
The setup is straight-forward for both DVDXPlatinum and Video Vault. We like how DVDXPlatinum has played it smart by Legally Integrated CSS decryption. During first time setup, you will install a free decryption utility. Once you set that up, copying any DVD is a snap.
Copy Quality & Compression:
The image quality is second to none. Even with compression (which is done automatically for you), it's very hard to tell when viewing the compressed copy. Compression capability is very important because most DVD's won't fit on single DVD-R unless compressed. Store bought DVDs are Dual Layer which is why you need to compress them to get them to fit on the Single Layer DVD-R. DVDXPlatinum can split a DVD to two blank discs if you want perfect quality. Dual layer support is included with DVDXPlatinum so you can also make perfect backups on DVD-9 blankd DVD discs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Windows 98, ME, 2000, 2003 or XP
- 10 GB of free hard drive space
- Video Vault will require up to 4.5GB per movie you store. You can compress this down to about 2GB per movie.
- Pentium-II 450 MHz or faster processor
- At least 64 MB of RAM
- At least 1 DVD-R(W) or DVD+R(W) Drive
- Blank DVD Media DVD-R(W)/+R(W) Discs
