 | 4/12/2013: PopCorn DVD Copy by Roxio receives our highest rating for the Mac platform. We have tested several Mac DVD Copy software and Popcorn is the most stable, fast, and easy to use DVD copy software we've seen for the Mac. There are not that many quality DVD Copy Software titles for the Macintosh so we have not done extensive reviews on the other titles. Popcorn is by far the best. It uses their integrated "Toast" DVD burning technology that has been the leading Mac burning engine for over 10 years.
NEWS: 1/20/2013: Popcorn has won Best In Show at MacWorld.
Popcorn has many of the most important features like compression, dual layer support, easy configuration and more. Their customer service is very good as well. If you do have any problems, they'll help you in a timely manner.

Features:
Popcorn DVD Copy makes excellent copies fast and easy. The software is very stable, and customer support is great. You can also choose to include or exclude DTS audio, extras, subtitles, and movie menus. You can also burn a DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder on your hard drive. This allows you to use the free "Mac The Ripper" software to decrypt CSS copy protected DVD movies to your drive, then use PopCorn to automatically find the correct compression ratio. At this point, Popcorn easily burns the DVD to fit on a single DVD recordable disc.- Copies any DVDs including DVD movies including CSS copy protected DVDs. NOTE: Exra Step Required

Installation & Setup:
The setup is straight-forward.
Copy Quality & Compression:
The image quality is second to none. Even with compression (which is done automatically for you), it's very hard to tell when viewing the compressed copy. Compression capability is very important because most DVD's won't fit on single DVD-R unless compressed. Store bought DVDs are Dual Layer which is why you need to compress them to get them to fit on the Single Layer DVD-R. Popcorn DVD Copy can also write to Dual Layer media which makes for excellent uncompressed copies.
Usability:
PopCorn DVD Copy keeps its product simple. For example, it automatically picks the correct compression ratio based on how large the source DVD, or DVD file folder (like a VIDEO_TS folder) on your hard drive is. You can make a DVD Copy in very few clicks. There are also several custom settings, but most users don't usually need to adjust these. The only downside to this Mac software (which is the best Mac software we've seen) is that you're required to rip any DVD movie first using the free Mac The Ripper CSS decryption software. Most DVD movies are CSS copy protected. First, you need to rip the DVD using the free Mac the Ripper (or other free ripping software). Rip it to a TS_FOLDER. Then, with PopCorn, select the TS_FOLDER as the source for the copy. Popcorn then chooses the correct compression ratio, and allows you to ingore any extras you don't want to include. From there, the process is as easy as one click. We wish there was an easier way, like several of the Windows Platform DVD copiers, but for the Mac, this is the best option. It's actually quite easy once you do it once.
Here's how to rip a DVD movie which uses CSS copy protection. You need DVD ripping software such as the free 'Mac The Ripper'. - Download and install a free Mac DVD ripper. Search for 'Mac the ripper' on google to find and download.
- Put the DVD in your Mac
- Quit DVD player if it starts up
- Run Mac The Ripper (MTR)
- MTR will default with full disc rip which is fine since PopCorn can be used to choose what you want to burn.
- Choose a short title like "STAR_WARS". Use all caps and no spaces.
- Hit GO and MTR will rip the disc to your hard drive.
- Now, Start Popcorn and choose the source TS_FOLDER (the one you burned with MTR).
- Choose to remove any extras from the burn, then Start the DVD burn. Popcorn will have picked the correct compression ratio so it all fits on one DVD.
